Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a middle-range luxurious product of the Mercedes lineup from 1993 to the present, and it has been marketed five generations across the world. Daimler-Benz (1993–1998), DaimlerChrysler (1998–2007), Daimler AG (2007–present), Magna Steyr (4MATIC models only, 1996–2009) are the main manufacturer of Mercedes Benz E-class. Mercedes sold more than 13 million models by 2015, and the E-Class is the best selling model of Mercedes Benz and so popular to the car lover people. In 2015, the Mercedes brand sold more than 13 million Mercedes-Benz E-Class models.  There are 5 generations available on the market. Here I mention these 5 generations below.

First-generation (W124; 1993–1995)

In 1994, with the facelifted W124, the “E-Class” name first appeared. This first-generation came with gasoline V8 engines and over the four and six-cylinder gasoline engines that further increased gasoline power outputs. From 1992–1993, the V8 powered sedans/saloons were named 400 E/500 E and E 420/E 500 after 1993. With the new 3.2-liter M104 engines and naming rationalization of 1994, the 3.0-liter cars (e.g., 300 E) were also re-badged to E 320.

W124 E-Class

Second-generation (W210; 1996–2002)

The second generation of E-class had come with the mid-luxury W210 E-Class launched in 1995 and facelifted in September 1999. Compared to the earlier version of the E-class, the E-class made many major changes, including four large oval headlights starting in 1996. However, the new E-class is considered mid-size. That new generation was 1.6 inches longer and 2.3 inches wider and offered significantly more interior room.

W210 E-Class

Third-generation (W211; 2003–2009)

The third generation of Mercedes Benz E-class came with the W211 E-Class launching in 2002. This model was another evolution of the previous model of the E-class line-up. In 2005, the W211 was introduced as a niche model based on the C219 CLS-Class sedan. For addressing quality and technical issues, the W211 E-Class was facelifted in June 2006 for the 2007 model year raised by the earlier models.

W211 E-Class

Fourth-generation (2010-2016)

In 2010, the W212 came in the place of the W211 as a 2010 model. Mercedes Benz leaked the official photos of the W212 on the internet on 9 December 2008. Blindspot monitor, Lane Keeping Assist, Pre-safe with Attention Assist and Night View Assist Plus were the new features included in this new model. However, it priced nearly US$4,600 less than the previous model in the United States. The coupé (C207) was another evolution in the Mercedes Benz E-class lineup included in the fourth generation that was first shown at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. These two models took place in the previous C209/A209 CLK-Class models.

W212 E-Class

Fifth-generation (W213; 2017–present)

Finally, we came to the last generation named the fifth generation of E-class with W213 E-Class model that was unveiled at the NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) in 2016. There had a major update in the engine segment of W213 E-class for a switch to inline-6 engines from the current V6 engines. After the new S Class, this is the model, which is the second most technologically advanced Mercedes. W213 E-class can pilot itself up to 130 mph, which is 210 Kmph, for up to 2 minutes. To the W213, Mercedes-Benz introduced a facelift in 2020.
